Session DetailsThis learning session will introduce attendees to the unique identifier ecosystem and the Domain Name System (DNS). Attendees will learn about domain names, IPv4 addresses, IPv6 addresses, autonomous system numbers, port numbers, and other identifier systems that ICANN helps coordinate. The session will also cover the fundamentals of why the DNS was invented, how naming works, how names resolve, and some of the new work being done on the protocol. This session will help prepare ICANN86 attendees for the policy discussions being conducted at the conference.
